Some thoughts on job application rejections

Applying for jobs is hard enough, but being faced with constant rejection can really have a negative impact on your motivation and well-being.

I’ve learnt a few things over the past few weeks.

Radio silence

Employers genuinely, don’t like giving out negative advice. They would rather just never get back to you rather than tell you that your application was unsuccessful. No feedback, nothing. This is particularly frustrating when you want to know how you can improve.

Negative feedback loops

You’ve probably heard of the old saying “you need money to make money” well are applying for jobs is very similar to this. The biggest challenge I’ve had is that you need experience to get experience. Like where am I meant to start? Someone’s gotta take a chance on me, right?

Discovering what do you are truly passionate about

Through facing a heartache a constant rejection, there are some positives to this process which can actually work in your favour. You’re reaction to recjection will determine what you are truly passionate about. There have been jobs which I’ve applied for which have been unsuccessful But have ultimately led me to feel okay or even relieved about not getting it. It really does show if my heart was really in it or not.
