If you are anything like me, you will find that you are quick to tell yourself the same lie over and over again. It may be the case that this lie could by something you wish to happen but you find out will not happen for some reason or another.
We all know how this feels.
It’s like the world has stopped spinning and the world around us has just broken.
It’s not that nice.
For this reason, we need to mentally check in on your selves to make sure that we are not overdoing ourselves and letting ourselves in for a fall!
Today (with some help) I came up with this idea called “Mental Checkpoints”
A checkpoint is a firmly rooted, well-established set of truths about yourself which are encouraging and are unlikely to change. This hese could be based upon experiences, personal qualities or just hobbies and interests.
The ideas are, that when you want to break into the unknown, whether means means starting a new relationship, freqtily remind yourself about the present reality as we know it. How do you feel? What have you got? What have I learnt so far?
The idea from here is that if things don’t work out as expected, you haven’t got far to go until you get to your last known checkpoint.
This (I hope) will help me not to deceive myself when things go wrong or unexpected. Hopefully, this will encourage me to stop being such a rigid thinker.
